Peony and Rock, cyclically dated to the Yiwei year
corresponding to 1895
Ink and colour on silk, with apocryphal seal reading
Cixi huang taihou yubi zhi bao, signature and
calligraphic inscription, mounted and framed. The
painting,

A PAIR OF LARGE FAMILLE ROSE ‘HUNDRED
ANTIQUES’ FISHBOWLS
19th century
Each vessel heavily potted, decorated with high
relief, appliquéd vases of flowers, fruits, flowers and
the Auspicious Emblems, all between two bands
of diaper designs, all on a vibrant pink ground, the
everted rim with a band of floral designs, the interior
with large fan-tailed fish swimming amidst reeds in
a pond.
