         A GILT-BRONZE SEATED             PROVENANCE
                                          Hata Zoroku II (1854-1932), acquired in
         FIGURE OF GUANYIN
                                          1923 (according to box inscription)
         QING DYNASTY, 17TH-18TH CENTURY
                                          HK$500,000-700,000
         The figure is modelled seated in rajalilasana,
         the posture of royal ease, leaning to one   US$65,000-91,000
         side with both arms gently embracing the
         raised right knee. The hair is arranged into   ׁ᪺   㛶㕺㘍⿮㦉চӐ
         a topknot, secured with a seated Amitabha
         and detailed with radiating jewellery   ϝᬝ
         chains, above a gentle downward tilt of the
                                          Հջ☟⻦ݪ卻         卼卿ݣ⻦ᙻ
         head. The figure is dressed under a cowl       ჺ卻ᗌណ⏁᪪㍃卼
         covering a shawl that open at the chest to
         reveal a bare torso adorned with bejewelled
         necklaces suspended from a torque. The
         figure is accommodated with a later zitan
         stand carved in the form of a woven mat.
