A SMALL GILT-BRONZE FIGURE OF A SEATED BUDDHA
AND A PARCEL-GILT METAL SHRINE
QING DYNASTY, 18TH-19TH CENTURY
The figure is seated in dhyanasana on a double-lotus base, with both hands in dhyanamudra,
wearing a softly pleated robe draped over the left shoulder and falling in rounded folds
on the base, the serene face is framed by long pendulous ears and hair arranged in rows of
tight whorls surmounted by a domed usnisa. Accompanied by glass-inset parcel-gilt silver
and copper shrine.
