A BLUE AND WHITE 'DRAGON'
MALLET VASE
KANGXI PERIOD (1662-1722)
The neck is painted in cobalt blue with a three-clawed
archaistic dragon above three Daoist emblems around
the body interspersed with clouds. The base is inscribed
with an apocryphal four-character Chenghua mark.

ENAMELLED 'DRAGON' BOTTLE
VASE
QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY
The vase is decorated on the body with a stylised dragon
in brown enamel emerging from a mottled amber glaze.

It is rare to find bottle vases of this type painted with
abstract dragons in such a free spirited style. A similar vase
of almost identical form, size and design is illustrated in R.
