716 A TALL PARCEL-GILT-BRONZE                                            The present censer is notable for its simplicity and elegance.
      TRIPOD CENSER                                                      Compare the bronze censer of compressed form, also bearing
                                                                         a Yutang qingwen mark, sold at Christie’s New York,
            MING DYNASTY, 16TH-17TH CENTURY                              17 March 2017, lot 1040.

        The tall, almost hemispherical censer is raised on three         明十六/十七世紀 銅局部鎏金鼎式爐
        cylindrical legs and surmounted by two upright loop handles
        on the rim. The exterior is decorated with attractive irregular
        patches of gold, and the underside is cast with the four-
        character mark Yutang qingwan (‘Pure Treasure of the
        Jade Hall’).
