A RARE SANCAI-GLAZED
CANDLESTICK HOLDER
TANG DYNASTY (618-907)
Well-potted as a cylindrical candle holder supporting
a circular drip pan raised on a ribbed stem rising from
a larger drip pan below, and all raised on a spreading
foot. It is covered overall with a splashed glaze of
green and amber on a straw coloured ground.

PROVENANCE
An English private collection, acquired in Hong
Kong in the 1980s
Compare a slightly larger sancai-glazed example (29.4
cm. high), but incorporating large areas of blue glaze in
the Palace Museum, Beijing, illustrated in Porcelain of
the Jin and Tang Dynasties, The Complete Collection of
Treasures of the Palace Museum, Hong Kong, 1996, p.
225, no. 207 (fig. 1).
The result of the Oxford thermoluminescence test no.
C204c99 (January 2005), is consistent with the dating
of this lot.
唐 三彩燈台
來源
英國私人收藏,於1980年代購自香港
見一尺寸稍大(29.4公分高)但為三彩加藍釉之近似例,
著錄於《故宮博物院藏文物珍品全集31-晉唐瓷器》,
香港,1996年,頁225,207號(圖一)。
此器經牛津熱釋光測年法測試(測試編號 C204c99,2005
年1月),證實與本圖錄之定年符合
