A DOUCAI ‘RUYI’ DISH A RARE LARGE WUCAI DISH WITH LANTERNS
JIAJING SIX-CHARACTER MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE WITHIN A AND OFFICIALS
DOUBLE SQUARE AND OF THE PERIOD (1522-1566)
WANLI SIX-CHARACTER MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE WITHIN A
The dish is decorated to the interior with a band of interlinking
ruyi heads. The reverse is painted with seven lingzhi-shaped motifs DOUBLE CIRCLE AND OF THE PERIOD (1573-1619)
in alternating colours.
5 æ in. (14.6 cm.) diam. The dish depicts a scene of the Lantern Festival, and is painted on
the interior with a hanging banner at the centre surrounded by
HK$200,000-300,000 US$26,000-39,000 three lanterns and two attendants. The well with a band of lotus
flowers and scrolling foliage. The underside is further decorated
明嘉靖 鬥彩如意雲頭紋盤 雙方框六字楷書款 with ribbon-tied ruyi, coin, ingot and lozenge, alternating with
lanterns.
