A BLUE AND WHITE ‘DRAGON’ PRUNUS-FORM JARDINIERE
KANGXI SIX-CHARACTER MARK IN A LINE IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE AND OF THE PERIOD
(1662-1722)
The jardinière is finely painted on each lobed side with a five-clawed dragon, forming
two pairs contesting flaming pearls and a single leaping dragon embracing a Shou roundel.
The everted mouth is painted with five crane roundels against a brocade ground. The five
scroll-feet are decorated with lotuses borne on scrolling tendrils. The base is unglazed,
with an aperture in the centre for drainage.
