The single-panel top is set within the wide
rectangular frame, above plain aprons and
spandrels, the whole supported on legs of
round section and joined by pairs of similar
stretchers.

The present table is distinguished by its long,
single-panel top and elegant proportions. Similar
tables include one illustrated by Gustav Ecke in
Chinese Domestic Furniture, Tokyo, 1962, pl. 46,
no. 36, and another in the Victoria and Albert
Museum, illustrated by Craig Clunas, in Chinese
Furniture, Victoria and Albert Museum Far
Eastern Series, London, 1988, p. 46. Compare
also to a two-panel top pingtou’an from the Lai
Family Collection, sold at Christie’s New York, 17
September 2015, lot 922.
