POTTERY FIGURE OF A COURT LADY
TANG DYNASTY
modelled with both arms and hands
joined before the body, wearing a deep
blue-coloured shawl draped around her
shoulders, arms and hands, falling in long
folds over an amber-glazed robe to the base
revealing pointed slippers, the unglazed
face modelled with small features detailed in
black, her hair drawn up in a topknot
Height 26.7 cm, 10½ in.

of slightly compressed ovoid form, covered
to exterior with a thin layer of creamy-white
slip suffused with cobalt blue glazes stopping
just above the short splayed foot revealing
the buff body, the similarly decorated domed
cover surmounted with a floral bud finial
Height 15.3 cm, 6 in.
