me the chance to personally examine British collections in the United Kingdom. This

research served as the culmination of my doctoral studies and is a key component of this

                   dissertation.

I am also sincerely grateful for my family, whose unwavering support and

encouragement allowed me the opportunity to finish my dissertation. My parents have

always been my biggest supporters and instilled in me a strong work ethic and desire to

succeed. I appreciate all the sacrifices you both made to ensure I had every opportunity

to flourish. My sister, Sara, has been one of my staunchest advocates and fiercest

supporters from the start. Thank you for all the advice and assistance you have given me

over the years. Finally, to my fiancé Joe, I am eternally thankful for your love and

continual encouragement. Completing this dissertation would not have been possible

                   without your unwavering support.
