The first engraved with a narrative scene
with boys at play with a spinning top under
rockwork and trees, with black lacquer
background, the reverse with a three line
poetic inscription in running script and three
seals; the second also with boys at play and
with a short passage to the reverse. Each:

A RARE CANTON IVORY CRIBBAGE
BOARD
19th century
The rectangular board with twelve sets of ten
peg holes, carved in low relief with scrolling
floral meanders, with three central cartouches
enclosing pairs of scholars and attendants at
leisure, raised on four pivoted claw and ball
feet. 22.5cm (8 3/4in) long
