A rare Chinese bronze vase with applied qilong
yuan shi yuan nian mark, 17th/18th century
of ovoid form tapering to base and with everted rim,
three qilong on surface issue from their mouths the
elements of air, fire and water respectively in and around which are seen
a bat, a carp, a phoenix and billowing clouds, well-cast lappet bands at
shoulder and near foot.

song dynasty or earlier
modelled as a seated anthropomorphic chilong with scaly skin
and horns holding a strand of prayer beads and obscure ritual
object, drilled vertically through length of body.

An unusual Chinese black jade scholar’s seal
19th century
carved as a large section of bamboo cut diagonally at top
where rests an insect and with smaller bamboo stalks at
corners, obscure and lengthy seal matrix references
scholarship.
