A BRONZE TRIPOD CENSER
17TH-18TH CENTURY

The censer has a compressed body raised on three integral conical feet, and a pair of open handles that sweep upward
from the rim. The underside is cast with a four-character seal, Yutang zhenwan (‘precious plaything of the Jade Hall’).

The K’ung Hsiang-Hsi (Kong Xiangxi, 1881- 1967) Collection, New York, and thence by descent within the family.

Compare the bronze tripod censer bearing the mark Yutang zhenwan, but of less compressed form and with tabbed C-scroll
handles projecting outwards from the body, sold at Christie’s New York, 18-19 September 2014, lot 1052.
