14TH – 15TH CENTURY
rendered seated upright in vajraparyankasana with the hands
crossed before the chest in vajrahumkaramudra, depicted
holding a ghanta in the left hand and a vajra in the right, all atop
a double-lotus base with beaded edges, the primordial Buddha
rendered meditative and accentuated with a downcast gaze
below arched brows and an urna, flanked by long pendulous
earlobes adorned with elaborate earrings, the hair neatly
coiffed below a vajra finial behind an ornamental five-pronged
crown with tresses falling down the shoulders, the deity
further portrayed adorned with beaded jewellery and clad in a
diaphanous dhoti with finely detailed hems cascading in folds
below the ankles, the figure vibrantly inlaid with turquoise, lapis
lazuli and coloured stones, the base sealed with an incised
plate
