           the slender baluster body rising from a recessed base to a
           rounded shoulder and short narrow neck with everted rim,
           incised and brightly enamelled in green with a four-clawed
           dragon pursuing a flaming pearl
           23.5 cm, 9¼ in.

           PROVENANCE
           Collection of Constantin von Hanneken (1854-1925) and
           thence by descent.

           EXHIBITED
           This vase may have been exhibited in the Roemer-Pelizaeus
           Museum, Hildesheim, in 1930 (possibly no.32. on an
           unpublished listing).
