A GILT BRONZE SEATED BUDDHA AND LOTUS STAND a private collection, New Zealand
Ming dynasty, 16th/17th century
The Buddha seated dhyanasana with his hands joined in dhyana Although well matched in the color of the gilt, the figure and the
mudra, his outer garment completely covering his left shoulder, stand may be associated as the base of the figure is a bit smaller
partially covering his right shoulder and falling across the chest to than the top of the lotus flower stand. The stand and the figure may
expose the upper edge of his undergarment, the edges of both have been part of a triad set that was dispersed some time in the
delicately incised with lotus plants and leaf scrolls on a minutely past. See, for example, the three gilt bronze Buddhas and stands
