The nine dragons worked in couched
gilt-wrapped threads with some details in
white and polychrome threads added in the
intricate counted stitch technique also used
for the cloud scrolls and auspicious emblems
against the wanzi diaper ground and the tall
lishui border; the black gauze neck bands
and cuffs embroidered en suite.

Late Qing dynasty
The nine spirited dragons rendered in thick
gilt-wrapped threads as they chase flaming
pearls amid brightly colored cloud scrolls,
bats, a basket of auspicious fruit and other
symbols scattered above the tall lishui
border, the black silk collar and horseshoe
cuffs, now attached to replacement sleeves,
also embroidered en suite.
