(365-427), the Daoist Lu Xiujing (406-477) and the Buddhist recluse
Huiyuan (334-427) engaged in congenial conversation as they
cross a stone bridge over a water course surrounded by rocks and
vegetation; the cylindrical bamboo section deeply undercut and
polished to a soft luster, the soft wood collar and base finished in
reddish brown lacquer.
