A SILK EMBROIDERY ‘DUCKS AND LOTUS
POND’ PANEL
QING DYNASTY (1644-1911)
The rectangular panel is embroidered with a pair of mandarin
ducks swimming in a lotus pond below a rectangular seal
impression and a later inscription dated to Wanli yiwei year (1595),
mounted on silk scroll.

AN IMPERIAL EMBROIDERED BLUE-
GROUND DRAGON ROBE, JIFU
QING DYNASTY, 19TH CENTURY
The blue ground is worked in couched gold threads on the
front and back with five-clawed mang dragons interspersed with
cranes, lotuses, bats and Daoist Emblems, above the terrestrial
diagram tossed with the Eight Buddhist Emblems and lishui stripe
at the hem, all picked out in shades of blue, purple, yellow and
turquoise, with matching black collar and cuffs worked with
further marching dragons, and faintly corded sleeve extensions.
