A WHITE JADE CARVING OF
A LUDUAN
SONG DYNASTY (960-1279)
The jade is carved in the round as a
recumbent mythical animal, modelled
with bulging eyes, a snout-like nose and
a single horn. The stone is of an even
white tone with some opaque and russet
inclusions.

‘LION AND ELEPHANT’

QING DYNASTY (1644-1911)
The pebble is carved with a lion utilising
the white and russet part of the stone
clinging onto the back of a recumbent
elephant carved out of the black part of
the stone.
