A FAMILLE VERTE DISH
KANGXI PERIOD (1662-1722)
The dish is decorated with a scholar and attendant
approaching a cluster of houses, with another
scholar and attendant inside, all within a lush
mountain setting beside a poetic inscription
describing the scene followed by a seal, Hui'an.

The poetic inscription seen on the present dish
was taken from a poem Xiao Zhu (The Hut) by
Song dynasty poet Lu You (1125-1210).

A LARGE FAMILLE VERTE, FAMILLE
NOIRE AND GILT-DECORATED DISH
KANGXI PERIOD (1662-1722)
The heavily potted dish is decorated with a central
medallion containing a basket of flowers, enclosed
by radiating bands of further foliage beneath a
band of Buddhist-emblem panels and different
diapers on the rim. The reverse is decorated with
a thin band of flower-filled panels on a diaper
ground and the base has an artemisia leaf within a
double circle in underglaze blue.
