Brightly painted around the exterior with four fish swimming between four
clumps of lotus with quatre-foliate sprays of waterweed, all above a band
of ruyi-head above the foot, the interior with a single fish amid lotus and
waterweed above foaming waves.

A small blue and white rectangular tray
Wanli six-character mark and of the period
Raised on a low tapering foot, the delicate tray brightly painted on the
interior with a group of two orchids in the well and peony, chrysanthemum
and daisy on the sides, the exterior with fruiting sprays of two peaches on
the longer sides and a single peach on the shorter sides, Japanese silk bag
and wooden box.

Production during the Wanli period included many porcelain objects for the
scholar’s desk, including pen boxes, seal paste boxes and small trays such
