blossoming seasonal flowers, the scenes rendered in jade, colored
bone, stained hardstones and lacquered details against a brown
lacquer ground, mixed wood frames.

A CARVED RECTANGULAR JADE VASE
Of tapered section, incised in relief to all four sides in stylized
geometric and lotus patterns, the recessed base bearing an
inscription reading Cang Bao Ge; the stone of greenish yellow hue
whorled in cloudy inclusions and streaked by patches of veined
russet, with fitted stand.

A CARVED JADE BRUSH WASHER
Of compressed alms-bowl shape, the exterior incised in a leiwen
band above repeating archaistic scroll patterns surrounding the
handles carved in raised relief as confronting bats above the
naturalistic lotus-leaf band encircling the foot, the stone of cloudy
olive green hue displaying flecks of russet.

A MOTTLED GREEN AND GRAY JADE INK STONE
The trapezoidal dish echoing a musical stone with notched edges
and recessed ink trough topped by a deeply undercut dragon,
the matrix mottled with veins of darker green, white and oatmeal-
colored inclusions as well as russet staining in the natural fissure lines
(chipped).

A CARVED JADE COVERED BOX
Of slightly irregular diamond shape, the top exterior of the fitted
lid incised in shallow relief to depict an archaistic face bearing
an unusually toothy and mischievous expression surrounded by
geometric patterns and a shou medallion, the remainder of the
exterior surfaces undecorated, carved from stone of green gray color
displaying flecks and veins of russet inclusions to the underside.
