Meiji (1868-1912) or Taisho (1912-1926)
era, early 20th century
Each of the figures and the carriage
separately cast and assembled on the bronze
base, the seated passenger’s parasol and
the retractable carriage top both decorated
with the crest of the Tokugawa clan, signed
on the back of one of the footmen and the
woman’s kimono Shimi saku, with the original
fitted wood base

reddish-brown patina
