                                     high; a bronze spittoon,    Bath, Somerset, who made a
                                     20cm diam and a small Chinese   large bequest to the Ashmolean
                                     elephant tripod censer, 8.5cm high  museum in 1947, and by family
                                                                descent.

         decorated to the body with a band
         of scrolling foliage and geometric
         design, the base inlaid with the
         characters shi sou.,12.5 cm wide
