A coral glass overlay snuff bottle
Attributed to Li Junting, Yangzhou, 1800-1840
Of compressed pear form with a flat everted
lip and oval foot rim, the opaque body with
a coral glass overlay, skillfully carved in low
relief with an abundance of auspicious images
including persimmons, ruyi, a bat, a kingfisher,
etc, as well as a four character inscription on
one face in seal script reading fu shou nan duo
(wealth, longevity and multiple male offspring),
with inscriptions on seal script on each side one
reading Junting zhenbao (Precious treasure of
Junting) the other side probably reading Jue
san hua zhai jianzhi.

A reddish brown overlay white glass
snuff bottle
Yangzhou school, 1830-1890
Of compressed spherical form, with a flat lip and
red oval foot rim surrounding a convex foot, the
single reddish-brown overlay highlighting the
low relief carved decoration of bats emanating
from a double gourd, the other face with a
diminutive pine in a planter, adjacent to a
scholar’s rock with lingzhi, with a four character
inscription in seal script reading Shou Tong Jin
Shi (Long-lived liked metal and stone).
