                                                             seventeenth century huanghuali table with everted flange ends is
                                                             illustrated with a similar treatment of the side panels which are carved
                                                             with an open design of a lingzhi or ruyi motif. A woodblock print from
                                                             The Golden Lotus, 1695 edition is also illustrated and shows such a
                                                             table in an intimate pavilion setting.
