A BLUE AND WHITE ‘MONTH’ CUP
Chenghua six-character mark, Kangxi Provenance
Delicately potted in deep ‘U’ shape rising from a short straight foot Guest & Gray, London, purchased in the early 1980’s
to gently everted rim, painted on one side with apricot blossoms with
gnarled tree trunk nearby a boulder and low bushes, with hibiscus
blossoms dotted in the field, the other side inscribed with a poem 出處：
relating to the subject followed by the seal shang (賞 ‘to appreciate’), 倫敦 Gust & Gray，購於 1980 年代初期
the base with apocryphal Chenghua six-character mark within double
circle.
2 1/2in (6.3cm) diam; 1 3/4in (4.5cm) high A Kangxi blue and white cup of the same design and poem from
the complete set of twelve ‘month cups’ is in the collection of the
Palace Museum, Beijing, illustrated online in the museum database,
$4,000 - 6,000 described as representing the second month of the year.
