Of compressed form, with raised panels each
side of the body, painted in soft-hued enamels
on one side with two frolicking Pekinese in
garden, the verso featuring a pair of doves
by orchid, separated by two side panels
decorated with leafy chrysanthemums and
peonies; the gently spreading foot ring framing
the four-character mark painted in iron-red.

‘LANDSCAPE’ SNUFF BOTTLE
Imperial, Jingdezhen kilns, Daoguang mark
and of the period
Of rounded rectangular form, with a straight
cylindrical neck, slightly rounded and recessed
lip, the side walls decorated with a continuous
tranquil landscape fore fronted with dwellings
nestled in the shade of large trees, figures
boating in river, and mountains in distance, the
narrow sides molded with lion mask-and-ring
handles; the recessed base with the four-
character mark painted in iron-red seal script
within a raised oval foot ring.
