               A TIANHUANG OVAL SEAL

               QING DYNASTY (1644-1911)
               The oval seal is surmounted by a finial carved in the form of a recumbent mythical
               beast with a pair of backward curved horns. The seal face is carved with a five-character
               inscription in relief, two in a horizontal line, yuci, ‘imperially bestowed’, above three
               characters in a vertical line, Hanhui yuan, ‘Garden of Intrinsic Radiance’ flanked by a pair
               of chilong.

               The Hanhui yuan, ‘Garden of Intrinsic Radiance ’ was an imperial garden complex in Beijing
               gifted to the third daughter of the Jiaqing Emperor, the Princess Zhuangjing of the Second Rank   seal face  impression
               (1782-1811) upon her marriage to a Mongol prince.                         印面          印文

               含暉園位於圓明園西南。嘉慶十六年(1801)嘉慶皇帝第三女莊敬和碩公主(1782-1811)下嫁
