A RARE DING INCISED ‘LOTUS POD’ BRACKET-LOBED
DISH
FIVE DYNASTIES-EARLY NORTHERN SONG DYNASTY, 10TH CENTURY
The dish is thinly potted with lobed sides rising from a cylindrical foot to a barbed rim,
incised to the centre of the interior with bosses arranged in concentric rings in simulation
of a lotus pod, covered inside and out with a cool white glaze pooling to a darker colour at
the recesses, with the exception of the foot ring revealing the fine white body.
