A FINE ROBIN’S EGG-
ENAMELLED ‘BUTTERFLY’
VASE
QING DYNASTY, LATE 18TH-EARLY 19TH
CENTURY
The vase is sturdily potted with a baluster
body supported on a tall, splayed foot
rising to a trumpeting neck and flared
mouth. The shoulders are applied with a
pair of moulded butterfly-form handles.
The vase is covered with a mottled enamel
of turquoise and deep blue tones with the
exception of the interior.
