                      此瓶之圖案紋飾或為後繪

The present vase is a particularly charming portrayal of two
ladies supervising six lively boys playing in a garden; the boys are
representative of the desire for progeny to continue the family line,
and one of the boys carries a finely gilt ruyi sceptre which is a symbol
of longevity, as is the crane flying overhead. The effect is to fill the
onlooker with a sense of good luck and blessings, in a most delightful
                      and delicate manner.

Compare a related lantern-shaped famille rose vase, depicting a lady
and a crane, underglaze blue Qianlong seal mark and of the period,
