A PAINTED ENAMEL BASIN
18th century
Finely painted to the well with Mandarin ducks before a cluster
of peonies issuing from blue pierced rockwork, the cavetto with
ferocious dragons chasing flaming pearls amongst foaming waves,
the petal-lobed rim with a meander of lotus and peony sprays
reserved on a yellow ground, the exterior with three blue enamelled
chilong on a white ground, hardwood stand. 43cm (17in) diam. (2).

Decorated with a profusion of fruiting and flowering stems within
borders of plantain leaf lappets on a turquoise ground, the handle
and mouth interior decorated in tones of blue with flowering stems.
