                                                                                             Pyu city-states, 10th century. The
                                                                                             small coins of circular shape and
                                                                                             crafted from solid gold with fine
                                                                                             repoussé showing Vedic symbols,
                                                                                             including two with conches, all with
                                                                                             hooks on the reverse, likely added
                                                                                             later, for use as buttons.
                                                                                             Provenance: Ex-Collection of The
                                                                                             Zelnik István Southeast Asian Gold
                                                                                             Museum. Institutional art collection in
                                                                                             Belgium, acquired from the above.
                                                                                             condition: Very good condition with
                                                                                             expected minor traces of age and
                                                                                             wear. Fine copper red patina.
                                                                                             Weight: 3.9 g (total)
                                                                                             Dimensions: Diameter 1.2 cm (the
                                                                                             largest) and 1 cm (the smallest)
