QING DYNASTY, QIANLONG PERIOD
the rectangular panel of sa! ron-colored satin
richly embroidered in polychrome silk threads,
centered with an abstracted shou character
couched in gold-wrapped threads and
surrounded by Þ ve pink bats grasping peaches
and soaring amidst blue and green cloud
wisps all within a scrolling-lotus medallion,
‘Auspicious Emblems’ interwoven into the
lotus stems, further scrolling lotus, abstracted
dragon-form borders, and auspicious creatures
decorating the remainder of the panel, a pair
of comma-shaped embroidered tabs at the top
corners for securing the panel
