A WELL-CARVED RED LACQUER
BRUSH AND COVER
MING DYNASTY, 16TH-17TH CENTURY
The brush is carved in high relief with an oficial
beneath a pine tree receiving a kneeling young
man accompanied by an attendant and musicians,
the cover is carved with an oficial greeting
a young man accompanied by an attendant
holding a pile of books, all against two depths of
diaper representing ground and air between key-
fret borders. The end of the cover is carved with a
fu character.
