A CARVED AND RETICULATED BAMBOO PARFUMIER
QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY
The parfumier of cylindrical section is elaborately carved in deep
relief and openwork to depict a crab amongst lotus blossoms
growing from long undulating stems bearing curly tendrils and
leaves.

A CARVED BAMBOO ‘SCHOLAR’ TOOL VASE
LATE MING DYNASTY
The tool vase is carved and pierced in openwork depicting a scholar
seated in a tranquil landscape under a hanging cliff and pine trees.
The cliff face is incised with the signature Sansong.

Sansong is the pseudonym of Zhu Zhizheng, a renowned bamboo
carver from the Jiading area active during the late Ming period.
His grandfather Zhu He, and father Zhu Ying, were also revered
masters and established the Jiading School of bamboo carving.
Zhu Zhizheng was particularly known for his relief and deep
carving of figures and scholar settings.
晚明 竹雕高士品茗觀松圖筆筒
款識:三松
朱稚征,字叔子,號三松,江蘇嘉定人, 227 (mark) 227
活躍於萬曆年間。出生竹雕世家,與其祖
父朱鶴及父親朱纓合稱「嘉定三朱」。
工書畫,所刻題材包括人物、山水、蟹、
蟾蜍等,涉獵甚廣,對後世竹雕工藝影
響深遠。
