The box and cover are carved to form a
peach growing from a gnarled leafy branch,
perched to one end of the cover with a bat.

A JADEITE 'SQUIRREL AND
GRAPES' WATER POT AND
COVER
LATE QING DYNASTY
The domed water pot is carved with a
squirrel presenting a grape perched on a
thinly carved leafy vine bearing further
grapes which coils around the vessel. The
cover is surmounted by a smiling boy on
one knee, holding the stem of a lotus pod
in one hand and a tasselled rope in the
other. The stone is of a mottled tone with
spinach and apple green inclusions.
