A PAIR OF WUCAI 'DRAGON AND PHOENIX' BOWLS
DAOGUANG SIX-CHARACTER SEAL MARKS IN UNDERGLAZE
BLUE AND OF THE PERIOD (1821-1850)
Each bowl is enameled on the exterior with two scaly dragons in pursuit
of a flaming pearl, alternating with descending long-tailed phoenixes,
beneath a band of ruyi-form motifs and Buddhist emblems below the
rim. The interior is further decorated with a central medallion enclosing a
dragon in pursuit of a flaming pearl.
