                                                                                                                                 A FINELY CARVED PALE GREYISH-WHITE JADE FIGURE OF A
                                                                                                                                 RECUMBENT MYTHICAL BEAST
                                                                                                                                 QING DYNASTY, 17TH-18TH CENTURY
                                                                                                                                 The head of the beast is carved with a broad, open mouth above the incised
                                                                                                                                 beard, with laid-back ears and carefully delineated whorls of fur along its neck.
                                                                                                                                 The body has rounded knobs indicating the backbone and a tufted tail with
                                                                                                                                 finely incised hair markings. The stone is of an even greyish-white tone.
