WEN ZHENGMING (1470-1559) NOTE:
Orchid A native of Hangzhou, Zhejiang, Wang Aiyun worked under
Handscroll, ink on paper educator and activist Luo Jialun at the National Central
23 x 112 cm. (9 x 44 ¿ in.) University, National Central University of Governance in
Inscribed and signed, with two seals of the artist Nanjing, and later at the National Taiwan University. During his
Dated spring, second month, guichou year (1553) tenure at the National Central University, Wang had frequent
Calligraphy inscribed and signed by Zhao Mengfu (Attributed to, exchanges with artists including Xu Beihong, Zhang Daqian,
1254-1322), with one seal Huang Junbi and Fu Baoshi. In 1948, Wang moved to Taiwan to
Colophons by Dong Qichang (1555-1636) and Chen Jiyu (1558- work at the National Taiwan University. While in Taiwan Wang
1639), with a total of three seals of the artists became close friends with Pu Ru. Wang retired in 1968 and was
