 ◉   $ 20,000-30,000    The appreciation of gourd molding, which had flourished
            under the Kangxi Emperor, experienced a revival during the
 清道光   匏製龍紋小瓶  reign of the Qianlong Emperor. The mark Qianlong shangwan
            (‘appreciated by the Qianlong Emperor’) was reserved for
 《道光年製》款    an exclusive group of gourd vessels commissioned by the
            Emperor for his personal enjoyment and collection.
 來源         For two other Qianlong shangwan-marked molded double-

            see one from the Water, Pine and Stone Retreat Collection,

            sold 3rd October 2017, lot 3010, and another from the

            an octagonal brushpot from the Walter Sedgwick Collection,
            sold twice in our London rooms, 2nd July 1968, lot 47, and
            24th February 1970, lot 106, and a third time in our Hong
            Kong rooms, 8th October 2009, lot 1806, from the Water
            Pine and Stone Retreat Collection.
