ENAMELED ‘DRAGON’ BOWL
KANGXI MARK AND PERIOD
the steep rounded sides set on a slightly
tapering foot and rising to a gently everted
rim, the exterior with two yellow-enameled
striding dragons each pursuing a ‘flaming pearl’
against a deep blue ground, the interior with a
central medallion painted with a further dragon
and ‘flaming pearl’, the base inscribed with a
six-character mark in underglaze blue within a
double circle
Diameter 5¼ in., 13.3 cm

QIANLONG SEAL MARK AND PERIOD
the shallow, rounded sides set over a tapered
foot, the interior centered with an emerald-
green-enameled five-clawed dragon writhing
in pursuit of a ‘flaming pearl’, flame scrolls
encircling the beast, all enclosed by a green
band bordered in underglaze-blue lines and
repeated at the rim, the exterior similarly
decorated, the base inscribed with a six-
character seal mark in underglaze blue
Diameter 7 in., 17.8 cm
PROVENANCE
Collection of Jiang Yizhi (1874-1940), and
thence by descent. mr. Jiang founded Xingge
Bank in Zhejiang province.
