                                                                                                                                   Masterfully carved, the present jade carving depicts a
                                                                                                                                   vivacious heavenly horse galloping across roiling waves with
                                                                                                                                   a ribbon-tied bundle of scrolls. Known to be an auspicious
                                                                                                                                   omen, the heavenly horse is said to only appear when a ruler
                                                                                                                                   is just and virtuous.
                                                                                                                                   See a slightly larger jade carving of a heavenly horse,

                                                                                                                                   Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum,
