swimming between lotus leaves amongst a wave ground.

The present design of two geese with a lotus bouquet in the
center is extremely rare. See a related bowl, decorated with
mandarin ducks amongst lotus flowers, illustrated in Bo
Gyllensvärd, Chinese Ceramics in the Carl Kempe Collection,
Stockholm, 1964, pl. 78. A similar bowl, from the collection
of Ueno Seiichi, is illustrated in Marvels of Celadon: The
Shang Shan Tang Collection of Yaozhou Wares, Chicago,
2019, pl. 24. For a bowl decorated with two cranes amongst
bamboo and plum blossoms, see one in the Palace Museum,
Beijing, illustrated in The Complete Collection of Treasures of
the Palace Museum, Porcelain of the Song dynasty (I) vol. 32,
