A blue and yellow-glazed ‘dragon’ moonflask,
bianhu
18th century
The flattened circular body painted on each side with a front-facing
five-clawed dragon encircling a flaming pearl amidst fire and cloud
scrolls, the lobed handles each painted at the base with a ring
suspending a musical stone, a brocade ball and a lozenge, the neck
painted with a cloud scroll on each side, the vase covered with a rich
translucent yellow glaze stopping at the blue dragons.
