STATUE DE BOUDDHA PARE
EN BRONZE
THAILANDE, PERIODE AYUTTHAYA,
FIN XVIEME SIECLE
Il est représenté en samabhanga sur une base
lotiforme conçue séparément, sa main droite en
abhayamudra et la gauche le long du corps. Il porte
l’uttarasangha et le samghati maintenu par une
ceinture. Paré de bijoux, son visage est serein. Ses
yeux mi-clos incrustés de nacre sont surmontés
de sourcils arqués sous un chignon ceint d’une
couronne et d’une tiare ornée de rinceaux feuris.

The fgure of Buddha in royal attire became
popular in the sixteenth century during the Ayutthaya
period. The kingdom was founded in 1350 and
fourished until it was invaded and destroyed by the
Burmese in 1767. Hinayana Buddhism fourished and
the temples were profusely decorated with statues.
