walking or reclining, the base with a Li Yucheng zuo mark

Li Yucheng was known to produce distinctive carved
porcelains in the 19th century, often imitating wood, ivory and
bamboo. Two similar brushpots attributed to the same artist
and dated Daoguang period, are illustrated in Tony Miller and
Humphrey Hui, Elegance in Relief—Carved porcelain from
Jingdezhen of the 19th to early 20th centuries, Hong Kong,
2006, pls 32 and 33.
